PTSB Announced as Headline Sponsors of Mixed Ability Rugby World Cup Tournament Cork 2020

Representatives from the IRFU and IMART (International Mixed Ability Rugby Tournament) gathered yesterday for the competition selection for the IMART 2020 Mixed Ability Rugby World Cup Tournament. Journalist and broadcaster Matt Cooper, who has been championing IMART 2020 since Sunday’s Well Rugby Club saw out tough competition to win their bid to host the tournament in Cork, was in attendance at Facebook EU HQ in Dublin’s Grand Canal Dock, to draw the groups for the 3rd edition of the International Mixed Ability Rugby World Tournament.

Permanent TSB were also announced as headline sponsors of IMART 2020, which will take place in Cork from the 7th -12th of June.

Cork’s Mixed Ability Rugby World Cup Tournament 2020

IMART 2020 will see up to 1,000 players together with national coaching teams and supporters from 14 countries travel to Cork from the 6th of June, and organisers are working hard to secure the necessary funding to provide food, accommodation, insurances, catering and logistics for players.

The winning bid to host the world tournament in Ireland this Summer, was secured by the Sundays Well Rebels – the team behind Ireland’s first ever mixed ability rugby team and responsible for winning the opportunity to host the event in Ireland.

Cork stands shoulder to shoulder with mixed ability rugby players as world cup is launched. The fantastic event took place in Cork City Hall with several headline sponsors and other businesses attending .

A huge fundraising effort is now underway with the event attracting up to 1,000 players from 28 teams from 14 countries including Argentia, New Zealand, Ecuador, Italy, Spain, UK and Ireland….

Cork’s Mixed Ability World Cup Tournament 2020 On Track to Meet €1million Funding Target

The Mixed Ability Rugby World Cup is coming to Cork in June 2020 and fundraising efforts are underway throughout the country.

The World Cup will see up to 1,000 players from 14 countries travel to Leeside from the 6th of June. Organisers are working hard to obtain the necessary funds which will help provide food, accommodation, insurances, catering and logistics for these players.

More funds are required to ensure that financial targets are met to enable the release of an additional €500,000 in backing in the form of EU grants. The EU Erasmus+ for Sport fund have committed to giving the project half a million Euro if the same amount can be raised by the IMART 2020 Project team.

‘Mixed ability model in rugby encourages social inclusion’

The Rugby World Cup 2019 may now be firmly in the rear-view mirror, but fans of the sport can look forward to another international tournament in Cork this summer.

The International Mixed Ability Rugby World Tournament will be hosted by Sunday’s Well RFC between June 7 and 12, providing opportunities for people with and without disabilities from across Europe and beyond to unite in competitive sports, educational workshops, and the added guarantee of an Irish welcome by the River Lee.

The tournament will see 24 mixed ability teams from across the world competing over the week, with players, supporters, and spectator numbers expected to run into the thousands.
